I'm going to throw a curveball at you.

I think the statement, 'kindness is free,' is a fantastic lie.

Being kind requires humility, patience, and love. Which means we have to die to ourselves to make someone else feel loved. If this was so easy to do, if it costs us nothing, why do we have to incentivize our fellow citizens to act this way?

Being kind goes against our human nature.

Being truly kind, a kindness that blesses others, touches souls, that means everything comes from the Holy Spirit, through belief in Christ Jesus.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit."

~Galations 5:22-25

Will being kind kill me? Yes. Yes, it will.

But as Jesus died for my sake and yours, I'll die to myself and let His Spirit speak.
