So Much More
We never realize how small the box is when we shove God into it. Our fears, our grief, our depression, our hopes, our dreams, loom so largely in our mind, there's no way anyone can stand between us and the impossibility of salvation, reconciliation, or realization. We're consumed by the needling of our tiny brains and the "rational" agreements, we forget Who truly sits on the throne. The One who uses the earth as His footstool (Isaiah 66:1) cannot possibly do anything, change anything, fix anything, to make our uselessness worthwhile again.
We're wounded by the unattainable, broken on the rocks of hopelessness.
Then comes God.
"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,
'Who is this that darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
Now gird up your loins like a man,
And I will ask you, and you will instruct Me!
Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding,
Who set its measurements? Since you know.
Or who stretched the line on it?
On what were its bases sunk?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
When the morning stars sang together
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Or who enclosed the sea with doors
When, bursting forth, it went out from the womb;
When I made a cloud its garment
And thick darkness its swaddling band,
And I placed boundaries on it
And set a bolt and doors,
And I said, 'This far you shall come, but no farther;
And here shall your proud waves stop'?
"Have you ever in your life commanded the morning,
And caused the dawn to know its place,
That it might take hold of the ends of the earth,
And the wicked be shaken out of it?"
The answers Job and his "friends" offered each other shoved God deeper and deeper into the tiny box of human Cause and Effect ridding themselves of Him completely. What we need to be reminded of is God doesn't fit in a box, nor will He inhabit one, and just like the loving Father He is, He will remind you of your place on His footstool while He sits on the throne.
Because God is so much BIGGER.
Just like His love for you, His grace for you, and His plans for you.
Nothing is too big, or too small, for God to do, heal, or gift to you, but not all things are beneficial to you right now for growing your faith, strength, and endurance for the next chapter of your life.
Trust your heavenly Father, Creator of heaven and earth and all that dwell in them.
Who then is he that can stand before Me? ~Job 41:10b
When He is so much more.
