I love how this drawing doesn't have a pure black and white feel. The paper appears grey like the moment is trapped on a day the sun refused to shine. Our lady appears stressed, tired, and ready to let go.
But instead of being hunched over, gripping her head in her hands letting the darkness consume her, she tilts her face up.
This brings me hope.
Psalm 123:1-3 To You I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens!
Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the LORD our God, Until He is gracious to us.
Be gracious to us, O LORD, be gracious to us, For we are greatly filled with contempt.
May my eyes ever be on You, Lord. Be my strength, be my light, Jesus.
