Risk the Ocean
But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers. Luke 22:32
Following Jesus is a risk we all took when we accepted He was the Messiah, Savior of the world, here to redeem us from our sinful state. Sealed by the Holy Spirit, we struggle to focus on Him instead of looking side to side for the logical routes through our personal walks of faith. That's the problem: We forget the journey of following Jesus is one of faith.
David Crowder*Band likened following Jesus to a sea without a shore beckoning us to set your sail and risk the ocean. We're comfortable on the shoreline where we can see our next step, watch out for the tide, and not get pulled under. We know the perils of the sea: the madness from drinking the water, how quickly you can be swept away, and how the risk of being in the water can lead to death. Why would we risk the ocean, a sea without a shore?
We risk it because we know Who made it, we trust the One who told us to take a step into it. By risking the ocean, the death that comes is the death of our old lives, old ways, our logic, and our desperate need for a safety we can see with our eyes. It's the daily death to ourselves, letting the old man die in faith that the new man rising today is one that looks more and more like Jesus. Trusting the UNKNOWN EVERYTHING to a KNOWN GOD is placing our faith in the hands of our Creator, our Savior. We risk the ocean and we are justified by our faith. In turn, we can call to our brothers and sisters to offer them strength and encouragement to take a step in faith too.
Don't be afraid Just set your sail And risk the ocean, there's only grace Let's risk the ocean, there's only grace Let's risk the ocean, there's only grace Let's risk the ocean, there's only grace It's your love that we adore It's like a sea without a shore We're lost in you, we're lost in you It's your love that we adore It's like a sea without a shore We're lost in you, we're lost in you Where you go we will follow I'm on my knees Where you go we will follow Oh, God send me
