Go Ahead, Ask.
As you can tell, yes, I'm a Doctor Who fan, but I love this scene in The Time of the Angels. The Doctor's answer is the reality of the episode, but hyperbolic when just read straight without the dramatic noises and background music. Every person who's friends with a writer can attest to this kind of discussion when they ask the most innocent question in the world,
"Why are you frowning/distracted/frustrated?" I guarantee they are never ready for the answers we give them, the dirty laundry list of things to solve before we're able to move on in terms of our story. We set impossible standards from the beginning and hope by the end, we've stayed true to the course, true to the story in our heads.
I've never loved a job more.
