These artists are a study of contrasts. They can turn pain into an ecstatically pleasing thrill. Florence + the Machine always gets my heart pumping though their lyrics are chalk full of pain.
They make me want to dance to their pain. What a strange concept.
Vincent Van Gogh's life was tragedy upon tragedy, and yet he painted it into fantastical beauty. These are forces to be reckoned with. They are not only survivors, but those who have turned something ugly into something more, something beautiful.
God does the same. He takes your hardship, or testing, and turns it into something better than we could have imagined. Something beautiful that leads not only us but our brothers and sisters in Christ to praise Him for.
"But He knows the way I take; when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold."
"So that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ..." ~ 1 Peter 1:7
While Florence + the Machine and Van Gogh made beauty out of ashes here on earth, our Creator wants to give us something that would last eternity more precious than gold.
